Joyeuses Pâques !

Joyeuses Pâques! Happy Easter!

As the café will be opened on this religious holiday, we were thinking about talking of tradition… We won’t tell you everything about Easter, you know this well enough, but we will tell you about a French tradition.

If the Eggs are brough in Great Britain by the Easter Rabbit, French children are not waiting for him, but for the Bells which, since the VIIth century are travelling back from Rome after the Holy week… .

The tradition started because it was forbidden to ring the bells; a sign of mourning for the Christ… Since then, on the Thursday evening, the bells are leaving their tower, and travel to Rome. There, they collect eggs, and come back to their steeples, ringing to announce the Resurrection, and spreading sweets and eggs in the gardens during their journey…
